Cure for Hiatus – Nevermore

1 07 2008

Well summer is here and that means we have to suffer while our favorite shows are on vacation. So this week I’ll be looking at how we can cure those Supernatural hiatus blues. First up is the first paperback, Nevermore by Keith R.A. DeCandido.

Quite frankly, it is awesome.

Keith is a fan of the show and it comes through on every page of this book. He hits all the right notes of the show we love, portraying perfectly the brothers and their relationships. The book also gets right the show’s mythology and general tone. If I had any caveat about it, it is: do not read the blurb on the back of the book, it’s very misleading. However you should flip to the back and look at Keith’s “Author’s Note” in the back (which lists a soundtrack for this “episode”). Even the over-description of the Bronx neighborhood help draw you into the story until you feel like you are watching an episode. If this book isn’t canon, it should be.

I give this book
salt shells (out of 5, which means)
This book should be canon.
This book is required reading for fans.
This book will be the standard by which others are judged.

Good hunting.
